Then it started! Gutting large 6cm circles out of the sheet of wood (Rika's job), then recutting a smaller circle inside the large one (my job). Some of them were not straight through so it had to be worked out to be even in the middle! (they gave this job also to me, because it's hateful to do!)
Then came the sanding down, painting, re-sanding and repainting until it was ready! (here it was me, Rika and Antoni doing this, while Alwyn was working on the steel strips) And just in time, on Friday morning I painted the last coat and it was ready to be packed and delivered at 15:00 as ordered.
The napkinrings packed and ready to go!
Luckyly Alwyn know someone that cut the sheet for us in 4cm strips without asking anything! (must give him something for this big favour!) then Alwyn cut them in to smaller strips and rounded the edges for me, while Antoni filed them smooth and then came the difficult part on Friday morning after I finished the wooden rings, I had to bend them seeing that Alwyn and Rika was at work!
0.8mm steel sheets are not that easy to bend so after a while I remembered how Alwyn bended the teaspoons for me, and I looked for a steelpipe big enough for the small sheet of steel to fit around! Wasn't easy and I almost stopped looking when I found it and armed with my pliers and hammer I started bending the small sheet around the steelpipe and hammered the last little peace into place and at 14:50 they where polished and packed for delivery!
The steel napkin rings that was ordered!!
I just made it clear that if any order ever it taken in that there has to be a 14 day delivery time!!! We worked our hands into spasms, but it was the most wonderful feeling, seeing the napkinrings and knowing that we can do it when we have to! In the past 12 years, never mind what was ordered, we never missed a deadline and we are proud of it! Well done to all of us and especially our Father upstairs for making this possible, because it was humanly impossible!! With His help it was done and we praise Him for it!
